KU to Host 9th GPPed Program

Pharma malpractice is like an ignored itch intensifying until it demands attention. The current state of pharma affairs in Nepal hints at a similar fate. Youths, the pulse of progress, have proven themselves in many areas, including developing Kathmandu city. Thus, the youths of the Department of Pharmacy, Kathmandu University, introduce you to GPPed (Good Pharmacy Practice Education) 2024.

The International Pharmaceutical Students’ Federation (IPSF) Asia Pacific Regional Office (APRO) GPPed Program is a regional event by the APRO, focusing on developing and standardizing pharmacy practice skills. Youths from KU won the bid to host this event in Nepal. The 9th GPPed event will be hosted by the Forum For Pharmacy (FoP), Nepal, in September 2024, at KU.

The IPSF, founded in 1949, represents 500,000 pharmacy students and recent graduates in over 90 countries. IPSF initiatives focus on public health, pharmacy education, and professional development.

The 9th APRO GPPed Program, themed “From Classroom to Practice,” emphasizes bridging the gap between theoretical learning and practical application in pharmacy. It encourages students and professionals to integrate classroom learning into practice, enhancing the quality of pharmaceutical care delivery.

With the event in Nepal, we anticipate distinguished figures from the pharma field nationally and internationally. Students from various Asia-Pacific countries are expected to attend. The event will feature pre-events like talk shows and online quizzes, a main event with symposiums, workshops, International Night, and Gala Night, and post-events including educational and recreational field trips.

Engaging in this endeavor offers global recognition, exposure to diverse perspectives, fostering inclusivity and innovation, and avenues for continuing education, ensuring ongoing advancement and proficiency.
