Pfizer Begins Transporting Vaccines

Pfizer Begins Transporting Vaccines After being granted emergency use authorization by the FDA, the Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 vaccine is now being transported to different distribution sites across the United States, thus launching the biggest vaccination drive in the country’s history. Priority will be given to vaccinate healthcare workers and nursing home residents, beginning Monday. Since the vaccine requires ultra-cold temperatures of -70 0C, speed is essential in transportation to ensure vaccine efficacy. After scanning and packing them in boxes inside freezer cases with dry ice in the company’s facility in Michigan, the vaccines were taken to the airport to be flown in cargo planes. FedEx Express and UPS are also delivering part of the consignment.
