COVID-19 VACCINATION

Till January 16, 2021, more than 39.7 million doses of various COVID-19 vaccines have been administered in 51 countries. While the US began its vaccinations on December 14, 2020, by vaccinating health workers, China and Russia authorized their vaccinations for some groups back in July and August, 2020, respectively.

CanSino Biologics’ vaccine approved for military use in China. The company began trials in Saudi Arabia, Pakistan, and Russia on September 15, 2020.

 

August 28, 2020

Sinopharm’s vaccine granted early approval for high risk groups in China. It received EUA for health workers in UAE on September 14, and was fully approved on December 9,2020. Likewise, it received full approval in Bahrain on December 13, 2020. As of January 15, 2020, it has received approval in 6 countries.

 

 

August 28, 2020

Sinovac Biotech’s vaccine granted early approval for high risk groups in China. The company began trials in Brazil, Indonesia, and Turkey on July 21, 2020. As of January 15, 2020, it has received approval in 3 countries.

 

August 11, 2020

Gamaleya Research Institute’s Sputnik V granted regulatory approval in Russia. As of January 15, 2020, it has received approval in 8 countries.

 

December 9, 2020

Pfizer-BioNTech’s mRNA vaccine granted EUA in UK, in Canada on December 2, and in the USA on December 11. As of January 15, 2020, it has received approval in 50 countries.

December 18, 2020

Moderna’s mRNA vaccine granted EUA in the USA. As of January 15, 2020, it has received approval in 36 countries.

 

December 20, 2020

AstraZeneca-Oxford’s vaccine granted EUA in the UK, and in India, on January 3, 2021 (where it is manufactured by Serum Institute of India as Covishield). As of January 15, 2020, it has received approval in 8 countries.

Bharat Biotech’s Covaxine granted EUA in India.
