Happiness is the Way

When there’s dark cloud in the sky, the silver lining gives us the ray of hope. We might be a little broken and shaken at the moment, but we look forward to that calm in our lives, like those silver linings. “Life is all about living, flowing with what comes in it; it is not just the goal to achieve. At times, it’s just about living, breathing, and circulating blood to our heart. It is as important to pause in the moment and return to the center of our being and bring change qualitatively,” says Dr. Pooja Jaiswal, Consultant Radiologist and Asst. Professor, Patan Academy of Health

Sciences, and along with that, an Arhatic Yogi.
Benefits of meditation are extensive and backed by science. It not only benefits our physical health, but also our mental health and improves cognitive analysis. With meditation, we can train our attention and our meta-awareness. Doctor Jaiswal says, “Life is in living, rather, happily living. There is no way to attain to life except by living it, flowing with it. It is here now this very moment—the breathing circulating in the blood, beating in your heart.”

Doctor Jaiswal started her spiritual journey as a personal quest to reconnect with the soul. For her, it is all about returning to the center of the being. She feels that being spiritual is becoming the best self as one moves through life. When one starts living from the center of being, he changes qualitatively on every aspect. Regular meditation lowers the level of blood lactate and prevents stress and lowers blood pressure. According to the doctor, when you are seeking a spiritual purpose, it may be overhelming in the beginning where to look and how to start, and one should understand the fact that it is an eventual process. In anyone’s spiritual journey, it is important that one is seeking. While doing so, one need not worry too much about adopting a new belief system, and embrace the fact that any kind of practice requires change. And, when you are ready to dig a little deeper, there are so many wonderful books and material available. All you need to find out which suits you the best.

She loves the way meditation makes her reflect on her emotions and thoughts. She feels content and deeply connected with her being. That keeps her focused on the present, rather than dwelling in the past or distant future. She meditates twice daily, morning and evening. It is all about the priority; if one thinks it is important, one will find the time for it. She does meditation on a daily basis. With her spiritual journey, she has found profound personal positive transformation. She feels more controlled and confident and trusts the process of life. She feels much more connected to the present. She’s able to see things as they are. She strongly believes that all this positive transformation has not only helped her to be a happier person, it has also helped her in creating an extremely peaceful aura around her, where almost everyone feels positive. And, she thinks that there’s no way to happiness, happiness is the way!

How does your day look like, and how do you incorporate yoga in your daily life?
Well, I start my day pretty early at 5:30 a.m. I spend some time in my garden, sipping my warm honey and lime water, and do my exercise for about 45 minutes. Then, I freshen up and do yoga meditation for about 40 minutes, and straight away go for work and get busy till 12 p.m. Since I do intermittent fasting, I take my first meal after that, and am back home by 4:00 p.m. At home, I spend time with the kids and read books, and again do evening meditation before having dinner. We watch TV and have family time and sleep by 10:00 p.m. Two days a week, I am home, and on those days I like to do gardening.
