Seventh B&B Arthroscopy Course Conducted

The AKB Center at B&B Hospital in Kathmandu successfully organized the 7th B&B Arthroscopy Course from July 4-6, 2024. Unlike the previous six editions, which focused exclusively on knee surgery, this year’s course centered on shoulder ailments and related diseases.

Dr. Nagmani Singh, who trained in Australia for shoulder surgeries, highlighted the shift in focus. He noted the lack of medical knowledge in Nepal regarding shoulder surgery and emphasized the need to address shoulder disease management. Dr. Singh stated that the course aimed to enhance the knowledge of orthopedic surgeons and future specialists in shoulder pathology management.

The course’s goal was to equip surgeons with the knowledge needed to manage shoulder conditions according to international standards. Renowned national orthopedic surgeons and world-renowned shoulder surgeons from around the globe gathered to share their insights. Keynote speakers included Dr. Kenneth Cutbush and Dr. Ashish Gupta from Brisbane, Australia, Dr. Kapil Kumar from the UK, and several prominent Indian surgeons such as Dr. Ashish Babhulkar, Dr. Vivek Pandey, Dr. Bhupesh Karthik, Dr. Mukesh Laddha, and Dr. Prathmesh Jain.

The three-day international conference featured four live surgeries, a pre-course, didactic lectures, debates, and panel discussions, all focusing exclusively on shoulder ailments. With over 140 surgeons from across Nepal participating, the event was deemed a significant success. The AKB Center at B&B Hospital plans to continue this annual course, alternating between conferences on knee and shoulder joints each year.
