Trump Alleges CDC of Inflating COVID Deaths in USA President Donald Trump, in a January 3 tweet, accused the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) of inflating the number of COVID-19 cases and deaths in the USA because of its “ridiculous method of determination compared to other countries.” The CDC’s guidelines on how to attribute a death to COVID-19 urges using information from COVID-19 testing as far as possible, but it also allows deaths to be listed as “presumed” or “probable” COVID-19 based on symptoms and the judgment of the doctor signing the death certificate. Earlier, Trump had accused doctors of lying about Covid-19 deaths to earn more money. “If you have a bad heart and are ready to die or if you have cancer and you are going to be dying soon and you catch COVID-19—that happens—we mark it down to COVID-19. Our doctors get more money if someone dies from COVID. You know that, right?” he alleged just a few days ahead of the Presidential elections.
